Join Ulster County Soil and Water Conservation District, Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County and John Ferrante of Wallkill View Farm to discuss practices to improve soil health and local resources available to support farms. Learn how farmers in New York State are improving crop performance and soil health through rainfall extremes by implementing reduced tillage, cover cropping and crop rotations.

Jake Wedemeyer and Travis Ferry of UCSWCD will discuss the no-till drill rental program, demonstrate usage of their 7’ Esch No-Till Drill, as well as discuss the benefits of cover crops and no-till planting for cover crops and pasture and hay field renovations. Presenters will share about practices used to improve soil health and climate resilience at Wallkill View Farm. Kathryn Brignac of CCE Ulster will share about Cornell’s soil health programs and resources available to participants. There will time for you to discuss your experiences with other growers, as well as to ask questions of the speakers.
